It’s been a while! I’m reaching out to update you on our PC/Mac title, AI War: Fleet Command. Though first released in 2009, it continues to be our biggest breadwinner here at Arcen.
Including expansions, the title has grossed over $1 million on Steam alone. We consider the milestone no small feat for an indie, especially given the game’s niche market and learning curve. Once they get into it, players seem to enjoy getting their hopes repeatedly crushed at the steely tendrils of the AI. 😉
Steam is currently running a 75% off weekend deal for the still-evolving space strategy series. The sale brings the $17 AI War Collection (base game + all 5 expansions) down to just $4.25.
We also have a coming-very-soon PC/Mac/Linux title that is set to bring Arcen back to its space roots. The Last Federation is a Grand Strategy + RTS Tactics game. Each campaign challenges players to manipulate a procedurally-generated solar system (teeming with eight alien races of various dispositions) as a nameless mercenary operating a small fleet from within the shadows.
Our years of development experience since launching AI War, combined with our new artists, have helped us create something that we believe is our best project to date — and certainly the most well-rounded. Whatever we make on this week’s Steam sale is basically going right back into pre and post-launch development for this — and since both titles have plenty in common, it felt like the right time to touch base about everything.
