LKA’s first game moves from Q4 2015 to next year while community will get to know Renee through online episodic diary…
LKA.it, an independent developer based in Florence, Italy, is announcing today that their first game, The Town of Light, is set to release the 23rd of February 2016 on PC.
Initially planned to release in Q4 2015, the game has been postponed to ensure the delivery of the initial team vision for the story and gameplay.
“Since The Town of Light is our first project we want to make sure to use all the time available to make all the game mechanics work perfectly. It was not an easy decision but we are sure it is the best one for the game and for the players.” said Luca Dalcò, creative director of The Town of Light.
Already winner of Best Story and Story Telling Award at Paris Game Connection 2014 and finalist at Geekie Awards 2014 in Los Angeles, The Town of Light has now reached the final phase of production.
The Town of Light is a first-person psychological thriller set in the Volterra Psychiatric Asylum. The asylum was shut down in the late 1970’s by a law from the Italian government which instructed all asylums to close completely and give back patients their civil rights
The game will be played through the fictional eyes of Renée, an imaginary 16 year-old girl that suffers from the symptoms of mental illness.
Also from today, LKA will start release sections of Renee’s Diary through The Town of Light website and social media. “We decided to reveal Renee’s Diary before the release of the game. Renee wrote this diary to remember her normal life before getting to Volterra and the player will be able to get to know her in preparation of the game release” added Luca.
The diary will be released in 9 instalments on a bi-weekly basis until the game is released.
The Town of Light has been developed with Unity game engine for PC, Mac, Linux and will be released the 26th of February 2015 on Steam.
