Hitbox.tv Upgrades to HTML5 Live Streaming to Bring Broadcasters and Gamers a Cutting-Edge Platform for Sharing and Spectating Gameplay
Hitbox, home to millions of video game live streamers and esports enthusiasts from around the world, is continuing its focus on technological innovation by offering its broadcasters and viewers a new, upgraded platform built on HTML5. The new platform offers users a more fluid experience with less load times and buffering, no need for Adobe Flash or other plug-ins for playback, and full support on all platforms and all major desktop browsers, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Opera, and Safari. The upgrade also makes way for the highest video qualities like 4K at 60fps, which Hitbox launched last year, and positions the platform to run 360-degree and virtual reality live streams as soon as they become available.
“This is a fast-changing industry, and we always strive to be one step ahead with cutting-edge technology for our community,” said Martin Klimscha, CEO and co-founder of Hitbox. “We pioneered HTML5 for our chat module which enabled users to stay better connected with chat room polls, giveaways, gifs and more. Now we’re integrating full HTML5 live streaming across the site while still delivering the lowest live video latency available in our industry.”
From the highest video quality, including streams in 4K 60fps, to the most interactive, feature-rich chat integration, to the ability for all content creators to benefit financially, Hitbox continues to deliver what video game streamers and viewers want. The HTML5 upgrade will be rolling out to all Hitbox users the coming weeks.
