Laser Disco Defenders is the first entry in a new self-inflicted bullet hell genre. In this high-impact twin stick shooter, every shot fired will ricochet inside the environment and can not only damage enemies, but also harm the player. Dodge, shoot and groove your way to defeat the evil Lord Monotone and his maniacal plan to control the galaxy’s taste in music.
And what would a game inspired by disco and cheesy 70s sci-fi be without some flamboyant clothes? Upon completing missions, players can unlock new customisable outfits that affect gameplay. From a rapid firing chrome suit and deadly flame sneakers to fashionable shades that grant extra points for coolness, this game lets you choose the rags that suit your playstyle; whether you are slow and methodical, or fast and reckless seeking to unleash a devastating barrage of lasers to clear areas quickly.
Areas are generated randomly, so gameplay keeps being entertaining for hours on end. An online leader-board tracks player’s best scores and the number of levels that they have completed.
Laser Disco Defenders has previously been announced for release on the PlayStation Vita but will also launch digitally and boxed for PC in September 2016.
“If you had told me a year ago I would be releasing my own disco themed game I wouldn’t have believed you! It’s been a lot of fun working with Excalibur to bring this game and the groovy universe it takes place in to life so I’m really looking forward to see the reception to the game.” ⁃ Alexander Birke, creator of Laser Disco Defenders
While the game won’t be released to the public until later this year, journalists, gaming streamers and reviewers are encouraged to register their interest with the press office in order to receive a review copy in advance of the official release date. Gamers can also sign up for the Laser Disco Defenders mailing list to receive news and updates about the game and to purchase the game for themselves
