Battlefield 1 crowned EGX 2016 Game of the Show

Gamer Network is delighted to reveal the fantastic feedback received from its EGX 2016 attendee survey, further solidifying its position as the UK’s biggest and best games event.

More than 75,000 enthusiastic gamers joined over 150 exhibitors at the NEC in Birmingham from the 22nd-25th September to celebrate the best of gaming from around the world. The packed show floor boasted worldwide exclusive first plays with games such as Dishonored 2 and Yooka-Laylee.

With over 200 playable games including big budget blockbusters and innovative indie titles as well as brand new hardware such as PlayStation 4 Pro and all the major VR headsets, EGX was a thrilling preview of the busy end of year period and beyond.

As part of the survey EGX attendees were asked to vote for their overall favourite game from the event as well as their pick of the 150+ titles in the Rezzed Zone, EGX’s huge indie focused area. Battlefield 1, the latest in DICE’s massively popular FPS series, emerged on top and has been crown ed EGX 2016 Game of the Show.

With a large presence on the show, attendees were treated to the latest playable multiplayer code over a month before the game’s release on October 21st. Jacqui Ashworth, Snr Product Marketing Manager, Battlefield 1 said “We’re delighted with the reaction from our players at EGX, which is testament to the bravery of DICE in taking the game back to World War I, the dawn of all-out war. The team have made a phenomenal game and we can’t wait for everyone to be able to play Battlefield 1; starting October 13th with EA Access.

To be voted players’ Game of the Show, at the UK’s #1 show, is a real honour and we thank everyone who voted.”

Dishonored 2 took second place, wowing attendees who were delighted to get an exclusive worldwide first hands-on with the visually striking stealth adventure game before its release in mid-November. Yooka-Laylee was the highest placed indie title on the list, the platformer’s beautiful visuals and nostalgic feel proving hugely popular with the EGX crowd.

The survey showed that 96% of attendees would come to a future EGX show and 92% of attendees would buy a game as a direct result of playing it at the event. EGX 2017, the event’s tenth birthday, will take place at the NEC in Birmingham on the 21st to 24th September with tickets set to go on sale in early 2017.

Tickets for EGX Rezzed 2017 taking place at Tobacco Dock, London from the 30th March to 1st April are now available to buy via the EGX Rezzed website egx.net/rezzed/tickets. Industry veteran Ken Levine has been confirmed as keynote speaker for the London event and Epic Games are on board as a major partner.
