Xtrfy? Anyone, nor me , but who would, I am a dedicated gamer and I’ll be honest, I have only heard of the likes of Razer, SteelSeries, Logitech, Corsair and a few others, but they all seem to be mainstream, peripheral providers. So who are Xtrfy, well I will leave them to describe themselves as they do it better than me, this is a direct comment from there pages
Xtrfy. Built on experience.
Xtrfy is a Swedish brand specialising in gaming peripherals. Our business philosophy is really quite simple. We are passionate about eSports and we want to create the best gear for gamers.
Whether it is instant-reacting keyboards or super-precise mice, all of our products are based on the same key component: experience. We have been working closely with gamers for more than a decade, and in 2014, Xtrfy joined forces with eSports organisation Ninjas in Pyjamas.
With professional players designing, testing and having the very last word in the development of new products, Xtrfy and NiP challenge the traditional ways of gaming gear production. We don’t do guesses. We don’t compromise. We create tools that help gamers perform.
Designed by the players themselves.
They sell the likes of Keyboards, mice, mouse pads, accessories and finally monitor stands and encryption devices.
Well, these final folks reached out to little me, after reading some of the awesome reviews and wondered if I personally would take a look at some of their products, like I was going to say no! so on that note, let me introduce to you the Xtrfy XG-B1-LED or in basic Terminology, a LED Bungee Cord Management System.
So as always lets first look at the selling points, as though this was on a shelf at your local retail store. On the front, they have showcased the bungee in all its glory, noting its best side, its behind, why? Well, it shows off its 4 USB Ports 2.0, it’s a shame these are not 3.0 or even 3.1, but I guess the price point would go up more, for a more advanced USB setup.
Also on the front are the Bananas in Pyjamas, oops sorry, there was me thinking of the old TV show I used to watch as I grew up, I actually mean the eSports team Ninjas in Pyjamas, as it was this team, that helped define and develop these peripherals for Xtrfy.
On one side they explain some features
- Mouse Bungee + 4 Port USB HUB – Combined mouse cord controller and USB Hub,
- Flexible Silicone Arm – Follows your movements and removes the drag from your mouse cord,
- Stable Design – Super- steady base and non-slip rubber feet for stable gaming.
Moving to the back, again they have decided to showcase the features of the bungee system with one of their mice, with a nice description;
B1 is the stable mouse bungee for solid play, it makes your gaming smoother be eliminating the drag from your mouse cord. The super-steady base keeps the bungee in place, while the flexible silicone arm follows your every move, making your mouse feel wireless. The bungee features a sleek design combined with an eye-catching LED illumination. The steel of the chassis is hand-brushed, making every copy of the B1 unique.
Now for the boring tech specs which are also featured on the back *Yawn coffee time, I think, BRB.
- Hand-brushed steel chassis
- Detachable silicone arm
- Non-slip rubber feet
- Hub ports: 4 x USB 2.0 (300 mA total)
- USB connection
- 5 m braided cable
- Weight: 452 g
- Dimensions (base): 108 x 108 x 23.5 mm
- Height including arm: 124 mm
- Warranty: 2 years
There is one final quote from one of the team member of Ninjas in Pyjamas
“The B1 has a new construction that makes it more flexible than any other mouse bungee, providing smoother movements and better mouse control.”
Ops almost missed something, Going back to the front of the box, there is a flip lid with a magnet that holds it down, A Magnet? really? normally it’s just a piece of velcro, impressive, Flip open the flip lid you can actually see the product through a clear panel, very nice bonus for selling their products, nice job folks.
So that’s the selling and features done, well what they want to tell you anyway, now down to what I think and what I want to tell you.
It’s total shit… the end.
Nah kidding, it’s not shit and you deserve a more detailed overview, yeah, well I think you do, so sit down grab a drink and get ready to be dazzled.
Setting this up was easy, the silicone arm just glides through a hole in the top and screws in underneath, super easy, the USB Hubs and LED are powered by a micro USB cable, chuck it into your PC and away you go LED display and a more USB’s are now available.
They say the base is sturdy, what they do not mention is it’s damn heavy, weighing in at an impressive 452g, it’s like a paper weight but better. The rubber underside, not FEET add to making this bungee cord system very stable and user-friendly. The LED is a nice added feature to go along with my Razer Chroma Gear, yes almost everything that I use has lighting now, from my razer Man O’ War Headset to the Razer Ornate Keyboard, down to my Razer Hex V2 mouse, and now this, what a delight, a free personal disco.
Update 09.12.2016, I also now own a Razer Firefly Chroma Mouse Mat. so even more LED peripheral devices.
They make a claim of a drag-free system on the cord,I have to agree there is no drag ,as the cord is now in the air and thanks to the silicone arm; you still have full movement and control of your mouse with no restrictions. I have had a wireless mouse, sorry I still do have a wireless mouse and there is differently a difference when using a wired to a wireless when it comes to having a cord attached, and as Xtrfy state, feels more like a wireless is a true description.
What else do the claim? Nothing, that’s it, awesome, so this device does everything they stated on the box, its weighty, stable, offers great functionality without restrictions and allows you to add more USB devices to be connected.
My only issues are the use of USB 2.0 this needs to be upgraded asap to the more relevant USB 3.0, other than that, it’s a great piece of kit for any games that hates having their cord just getting in the way all the time.
