It seems this year’s message to our viewers is coming from not the site owner but from me the Site Manager Alison. If you do not know much about me then head on over to this post-http://invisioncommunity.co.uk/2017/07/28/welcome-temp-site-manager/
So first off as always, thanks to everyone, our viewers, the pr people we work with, game developers, all our volunteers and everyone in between, if not for you, we would not be the size we are now.
I am a full-time student and I have a part-time job in KFC, and being the site manager is no easy task, you do need good time management skills here, and trust me I have messed up a few times and the site owner has had to step in and lend a hand to catch up. I found personal time was a luxury I could not afford, so this Christmas & New Year was great, as I did get some time off, in between writing essays and smelling of KFC. Sometimes I wish I could disappear and hide for a few days, ignore everything, but, I have to take University, my Job and Running this site seriously.
So what has 2017 given us, well SteelSeries, Razer, Logitech, Turtle Beach, HyperX, Colourful, Biostar, Merge, HTC, Thrustmaster, Oculus, Numskull, TPLink, Samsung, My Arcade, Mionix, Dell, Alienware, ADATA and a whole lot more when it comes to hardware and gaming peripherals? When it comes to our gaming lineup- we have 99% of all AAA studios backing us with their games and a whole load of Indie Studios.
We also have a team that heads to local schools around Wales, that promote the gaming industry, how to run a website and how not to run a website, with extensive slide shows, video, and guests. In 2018 we are introducing eSports to some local schools alongside some fun after school gaming.
We also took in and now fully host Anjel syndicate, on our servers, David, the owner of this site is a close friend of our site owner and when he was in trouble, we came along and offered him free, unlimited hosting, to help him out.
Now the site owner would normally go on about how we do stuff on our site and why we do it and then complain about other sites, this is below me, can be rather Slanderous, or sometimes a low blow as it is not professional or even ethical, but ultimately I really do not care, each to their own I say, we do things our way and it works, if other sites don’t like it, that’s their problem, not ours. I have spoken to the site owner regarding this, he agree’s that it will not happened anymore and will keep to just talking about the sites progress, not other sites and their procedures.
So what Happened in 2017, well we now use a security company to look after our site, we re-designed the whole site and how we score, we took on a load more volunteers, some have been great, some, well, let us not go there. We took a School to EGX 2017 and they loved every min of it, our site manager became a Dad to a little girl called Esmé, and from what I know she is a little Diva. Lewis Hallam got Married, Phil Dean purchased his first home and started his first podcast, Jimmy Dean is looking for the perfect job in the gaming industry, Aidan Bates is getting into streaming, Nathan O’Grady is training to become a teacher, Gergana is still creating short books for her in-depth reviews, which still gets a lot of praise, Thomas lashbrook takes on a shed load of games to review and Joe Roach is looking to a possible eSport Project.
When it came to our most recommended products for Xmas we created an OUR STAFF Xmas list which garnered a lot of views and purchases http://invisioncommunity.co.uk/2017/12/10/our-xmas-list-for-2017-what-to-buy-a-gamer/, we would hand on heart say purchase a SteelSeries Arctis 5 or 7 for a gaming headset or the new HyperX Cloud Alpha. For a console, the Nintendo Switch is a must to own, with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario Kart, Splatoon, Rocket League, Mantis Burn Racing & Super Mario Odyssey. There is a good amount of cracking games that came out in 2017 to many to name, not to mention some great movies.
Our plans for 2018, is simple, keep doing what we are doing, introduce unique content (being one of its kind; unlike anything else) bring in more volunteers, head to more schools and keep growing. We are also heading to E3, Gamescom, EGX, Play Expo and many of the Insomnia events. I am here until the end of April/May running the site and I now have my own email alison@invisioncommunity.co.uk if you need to speak to me regarding anything.
On a personal level, I had a great Xmas with friends and family, plenty of good food and chocolate, loads of new clothes and a holiday all paid for by my boyfriend. For the new year, I got totally wasted and ended up with a dog licking my face on some strangers doorstep.
From all the crew at Invision Community, have a fab 2018, one more thing our HyperX New Year Giveaway starts on the 5th January * and ends on the 19th January*
