HTC Vive has appointed Paul Brown as its General Manager for Vive Europe.
Paul, who will be based in HTC’s European headquarters near London, will oversee Vive’s growing European business across its virtual reality content, software and hardware ecosystem.
Prior to joining HTC Vive, Paul spent the previous six years at Disney as General Manager of Digital D2C and Disney Interactive for EMEA, running its digital content division and overseeing the development and launch, in the UK, of Disney’s first major direct to consumer video and music subscription service, DisneyLife. Prior to Disney, he was Spotify’s UK MD, overseeing its mobile launch in 2009/10. He has also held senior executive roles at Sony Music and US internet radio giant Pandora Media having begun his career as a city lawyer at law firm Hogan Lovells.
He joins HTC Vive at an exciting time. Since launching in 2016 as a result of a partnership between HTC and Valve, HTC Vive has maintained its position as the most immersive virtual reality system on the market. Its “room-scale” technology is unparalleled, and technological developments including the Vive Tracker look sure to vault Vive into a new variety of markets, driving innovation and experience. Vive continues to build and diversify its ecosystem with initiatives including Vive Studios, Vive X and VR for Impact, and this week also saw the launch of a subscription service for HTC’s own VR app store, Viveport.
Paul’s extensive experience at the forefront of new consumer media and content will help solidify Vive’s position in the market as the VR industry continues to grow.
Paul Brown said:
“I am incredibly excited to join the Vive team. Virtual reality has the potential to change the world and to genuinely unleash our imagination. HTC Vive is leading the way in truly immersive VR technology and content and we are only at the beginning of the journey, much like we were with music streaming and video on demand a decade ago! I am looking forward to working closely with the global Vive team to ensure we maintain and build on our position as a leader and pioneer, with our partners, in the VR space.”
