Today InnoGames announced to host the first ever large-scale game jam at gamescom in Cologne: The InnoGames Jam, a 48-hour long event in the congress center. During the game jam, up to 300 participants from all over the world will team up and develop 75 entirely new games – from the very first idea to a playable product, all within the space of two days.
The game jam starts on Wednesday, August 17 at 2pm and will end on Friday, August 19. In the afternoon that day, a jury will officially announce the winners. From now on until June 30, interested developers, game designers or artists can apply for the free submission process to become one of up to 300 participants. Those chosen to participate will receive a personal invitation via Eventbrite, where a 50 euro game jam ticket can be booked. You can find out more information about the event and the sign up process via https://igjam.eu/. The Jam welcomes participants from all over the world and is centered on the idea of bringing more diversity to the games industry.
Besides giving access to the Jam, where InnoGames will provide full catering and a chill out area, the 50 Euro ticket includes a 3 day gamescom pass (August 17 to 19). The required hardware and sleeping bags, etc., will be brought by the participants themselves.
The winners of this event will be able to showcase their jam games at the awarded Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.1. Visitors and media are welcome to not only have a look at the development process throughout gamescom, but also to test the latest versions of the unfinished games. The event is supported by Intel Corporation and Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware (BIU).
InnoGames regularly hosts game jams in its Hamburg offices. With about 170 people getting together to code the InnoGames in-house event is the largest of its kind in Germany. Creative exchange and building a team spirit are always at the heart of the game jams.
