- Darth Vader revealed as ultimate movie villain
- Brits opt for the lightsaber as their battle tool of choice
- Princess Leia voted the Star Wars character people most want to be
New research from Lenovo to celebrate the launch of Star Wars: Jedi Challenges augmented reality product reveals “May the Force be with you” as the British public’s most iconic movie line of all time. Almost a fifth (19%) of people agreed these words, first uttered by General Dodonna in Star Wars: A New Hope, topped the list of the best movie one liners. This is followed by unforgettable lines from Dirty Dancing – “Nobody puts baby in a corner” (11%), and The Shining’s, “Here’s Johnny!” (11%).
Britain’s top five movie quotes include:
- “May the Force be with you” – Star Wars: A New Hope
- “Nobody puts baby in a corner” – Dirty Dancing
- “Here’s Johnny!” – The Shining
- “I’m having an old friend for dinner” – Silence of the Lambs
- “After all, tomorrow is another day” – Gone with the Wind
The research was undertaken by Lenovo, who launched Star Wars: Jedi Challenges in partnership with Disney. Star Wars: Jedi Challenges is a new smartphone-powered augmented reality product that allows fans to experience Star Wars in ways never before possible – including battling the dark side with your very own lightsaber.
The research also revealed that, when asked to create the ultimate movie villain, Darth Vader comes out on top for UK adults. A quarter (26%) believe he has the ultimate voice, over a fifth (22%) name his outfit as the ideal “bad guy” attire and nearly a quarter (24%) would opt for his battle tool of choice, the lightsaber, over any other villains’ munition. Luckily, it’s a dream that can become reality with Lenovo Star Wars: Jedi Challenges.
How to create the ultimate movie villain:
|Head (%)||Voice (%)||Battle tool (%)||Costume/outfit (%)|
|Darth Vader (21%) – Star Wars||Darth Vader
(26%) – Star Wars
|Darth Vader (24%) – Star Wars||Darth Vader (22%) – Star Wars|
|The Joker (15%) – Batman||Hannibal Lecter (21%) – Silence of the Lambs||Freddy Krueger (15%) – Nightmare on Elm Street||The Joker (18%) – Batman|
|Hannibal Lecter (14%) – Silence of the Lambs||Jack Torrance (8%) – The Shining||Lord Voldemort
(13%) – Harry Potter
|The Wicked Witch of The West (10%) – The Wizard of Oz|
And if you were wondering which Star Wars character the British public would rather be, it’s Princess Leia (17%), followed closely by Darth Vader (16%) and Yoda (16%).
