World leader of market-defining mobile games continues to go from strength to strength
Miniclip’s hugely successful sports title, 8 Ball Pool, has become the top grossing game in the UK App Store and the top grossing app overall ahead of the likes of; Pokemon Go, Spotify, Candy Crush Saga and Tinder. This further underlines a very successful time for Miniclip as they also recently announced that they had surpassed one billion downloads across its mobile games on iOS, Android and Windows devices.
“Seeing 8 Ball Pool become the number 1 grossing app in the UK represents an amazing achievement for us, and an incredible start to 2017. We’re thrilled to see our flagship game becoming more and more popular with every passing month, and we have some new features lined up for this year that we’re sure our players will enjoy.” said Rob Small, CEO of Miniclip.
8 Ball Pool has also gained further success in the US where it became the #2 downloaded game. This, plus the popularity of Miniclip’s other games in December, saw them become the #1 mobile games company in the States by Android downloads – ahead of the likes of EA, Activision Blizzard and Zynga. Finally, Miniclip was also the #4 mobile games company worldwide by combined iOS and Android downloads – ahead of Supercell.
The success looks to continue in 2017 with the company’s entrance into the PC and console market with the highly anticipated motocross racing title, MX Nitro, set for release 14 February.
