- Retailer launches an action-packed month of events to celebrate The Carnival of Gaming
- Kicking off with an epic Street Fighter™ V tournament across 320 stores, with the final taking place at Insomnia 57
Retailer GAME is announcing a series of exciting new events this February for gamers up and down the country. Kicking off with an epic nationwide Street Fighter™ V tournament, The Carnival of Gaming will give fans the chance to go thumb-to-thumb with other gamers and experience exhilarating events first-hand in 2016, only at GAME.
On February 6th and 7th, fans of the legendary Street Fighter™ series can take part in the ultimate Street Fighter V tournament, getting hands-on with the game ahead of its official launch. Fans will also be able to pre-order the GAME exclusive Steelbook edition with Ryu Battle Costume set for launch on February 16th. Partnering with publisher Capcom, GAME is running a series of in-store competitions across 320 of its stores. With thousands of avid gamers expected to participate, ten of the nation’s very best KO specialists will fight to earn their place at the Grand Final, held on the main stage at Insomnia 57 with the chance for one lucky winner to earn themselves £1000.
If that wasn’t enough; Street Fighter fans will also be able to attend an exclusive event at the GAME Manchester Trafford Centre store on launch day where gamers will get the chance to meet Yoshinori Ono, legendary game producer of Street Fighter. Gamers at the event will also get the unique opportunity to be a part of gaming history as they play against Guinness World Record holder Ryan Hart as he attempts a new World Record to defeat the most people in 12 hours.
Stuck for ideas this Valentine’s Day? As part of the month long Carnival of Gaming, GAME is giving co-op partners the chance to test their love of gaming with a UK wide in-store tournament on the 14th February to crown the UK’s strongest gaming partners. With a host of prizes up for grabs, couples can now swap chocolate and flowers for games and accessories as they play their way to glory on Microsoft’s exclusive Xbox Live game; “Lovers in a dangerous space-time”
What’s more for mini gamers over the half term, GAME is encouraging them to get creative in-store by designing and naming their own Skylander. Young artists can then tweet @GAMEDigital with the #GAMEDrawlanders and winning entries will be chosen by the GAME community, with a ton of Skylander’s prizes to give away. During the Carnival of Gaming event, GAME will be offering free exclusive Skylanders Club membership with any Skylanders purchase made in a GAME store, as well as free sample cards for Skylanders: Battlecast, the new cards to life game launching later in spring 2016.
Finally, we will also see the return of GAMEBlast held 27th to 28th February, a weekend marathon of gaming, to support charity SpecialEffect. This year GAME will be hosting a 24-hour live stream as gamers try out upcoming games, exclusive content and roll back the years taking on some retro classics. There will also be some special gaming appearances and an auction of money-can’t-buy gaming items, with all proceeds going towards helping enhance the quality of life of gamers with physical disabilities.
