As the next Albion Online content update Cador approaches, developer Sandbox Interactive reveals some new features and improvements coming along with it, including an overhaul of the death mechanic, the introduction of mobile repair kits and a different display of loot and fame bonuses.

The developers plan to revamp the character death mechanics, which will make both PvE and PvP fights more strategically interesting. Instead of instant death and respawning in a city, the update will introduce a forced knock down phase when the player runs out of hit points. When knocked down, they are not able to actively do anything until their hit points regenerate. This way, fallen players can be revived by others in their group with a resurrection spell. If a knocked down player is executed, their gear can be picked up by their opponents.
In addition, the Cador update will bring a new item called “Repair Kit”, which can be used as a mobile repair station for gear of up to the same tier as the repair kit itself. Despite the benefits of having one’s own fixing tools, it has a limited lifetime and repairs at a higher cost than a regular repair station.
Finally, Albion will receive a modification in the amount of fame gains and loot drops depending on the zones players travel to. Balancing risk versus reward, less dangerous zones yield less bonuses, incentivizing players to explore the risky areas of Albion for more rapid character progression. With the update, in order to make the fame and loot bonus display more visible, the total value will be shown first, with detailed information about which bonuses are active presented in parentheses.
