If you loved music and had a PlayStation 2, either Amplitude was in your game collection, or you borrowed it from a friend and conveniently “forgot” to give it back. Thanks to the Kickstarter funded reboot, you can once again experience the intense gameplay and trippy reactive environments, remade for the current console generation. . For those of you who fondly remember Amplitude’s predecessor, FreQuency, you can also ditch the note highway for tunnel gameplay via the optional FreQ Mode!
Amplitude™ features a single player campaign along with competitive and cooperative local multiplayer modes. The campaign is presented in the form of a sci-fi concept album with a narrative that surfaces through the game’s visuals, music, and lyrics. Leaderboards bring out everyone’s competitive side as players fight for top scores.
The Amplitude™ soundtrack was crafted by the talented in-house composers at Harmonix, as well as songs from well-known video game composers like Darren Korb (Transistor), C418 (Minecraft), Danny B (Crypt of the Necrodancer), and Jim Guthrie (Below). The game also features tracks made by backers as well asfellow game development studios Insomniac Games (Ratchet & Clank) and Lab Zero (Skullgirls).
