The company behind Crowfall forges new avenues of funding for independent game development
Independent game developer ArtCraft Entertainment, Inc. announced today they have officially crossed the minimum necessary threshold to ensure the success of their Title III, Regulation CF crowdfunding campaign with Indiegogo.com and Microventures.com newly launched investment portal.
“As an independent game studio, finding new avenues for funding your titles can be both challenging and time consuming,” explained Gordon Walton, president and executive producer at ArtCraft Entertainment. “We are happy to pioneers in video game crowdfunding, following up our massively successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015 with an investment campaign with Indiegogo and MicroVentures.com.”
ArtCraft is the creator of Crowfall, a dynamic Massively Multiplayer Online world where thousands of players take the roles of kings, queens, mercenaries and assassins all vying for control of a virtual throne. Described as a “Throne War Simulator”, Crowfall differs from standard MMOs in that each server represents a single “campaign world” with a unique map, unique rules, and a limited lifespan. A campaign will last only a few months before one guild or alliance conquers the map – at which point the characters collect the spoils of war and move o n to the next campaign.
“Indiegogo could be a game-changer for our industry. Until now, funding sources for games were limited to traditional sources, like video game publishers, VC firms and accredited angels,” explained J. Todd Coleman, ArtCraft Entertainment CEO and Chief Creative Officer. “Now, the people who are passion about your vision can invest in your company, which means new opportunities to bring that vision to life.”
The success of this equity title raise will add to ArtCraft’s impressive fundraising history – with more that $10 million raised via crowdfunding, multiple rounds of private financing, and a licensing agreement with Travian Games GmbH to localize and operate the game throughout Europe.
