This autumn, rock legend Eric Clapton is coming to the big screen for a very special event in cinemas across the globe. Recorded in May this year, Eric Clapton: Live at the Royal Albert Hall celebrates his 70th birthday, 50 years in the music business and more than 200 performances at the iconic London venue that holds a special place in his heart. Produced by Examination Productions and Eagle Rock, the release will be brought to screens by leading Event Cinema distributor Arts Alliance.
Eric Clapton: Live at the Albert Hall will be an experience to remember as the film captures the raw intensity of this momentous night, from intimate beginnings to epic finale. Audiences will experience classic songs and fan favourites from throughout his career – from the Mississippi blues of Robert Johnson that originally inspired him, through Cream, Derek & the Dominos and the many highlights of Clapton’s long solo career. Clapton delivers a career-defining playlist that includes ‘Layla’, ‘I Shot the Sherriff’, ‘Tears in Heaven’, ‘Wonderful Tonight’ and many more.
As well as the live performance, the cinema event will also include a special featurette filmed exclusively for cinema audiences. Presented by Paul Gambaccini, it features interviews with renowned musicians Paul Carrack, Andy Fairweather Lowe and Chris Stainton, as well as journalists Hugh Fielder and Paul Sexton.
One of the world’s greatest rock guitarists, Eric Clapton has sold well over 50 million albums, and is the first artist to play more than 200 shows at the legendary Royal Albert Hall. He is the only three time inductee to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and has won 18 Grammys.
