Competition across Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2 and more to be boosted by new sponsorship
ESL One will see paysafecard sponsor competition for both Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, in Frankfurt’s Commerzbank-Arena (June 20th-21st) and Cologne’s LANXESS arena (August 22nd-23rd), respectively. Alongside major offline competition, Europe’s most popular online prepaid payment service will be present for all upcoming ESL One Battlefield 4 action and an array of online ESL Play competition.
Kick-started by paysafecard, Dota 2 is set to receive its first-ever ESL Go4 cup series, as the online payment company looks to help support and extend the grassrot and amateaur esports scene. The ongoing cup series will feature monthly finals that will be streamed live on ESL TV.
Fans of multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) and first person shooter (FPS) genres, who come from South East Europe, can look forward to an entirely new competition series: the ESL South East Europe Championship, featuring tournaments for both League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Supported and funded by paysafecard, competitors can enjoy full seasons of weekly competition, with finals for the championship to play out in May during Bucharest’s Comic Con.
Meanwhile, the soon to start ESL S.K.I.L.L. Pro League, for which qualifications will open in the upcoming weeks, will be boosted thanks to paysafecard’s generous contributions. Finals for the first season will take place at gamescom 2015 with the free-to-play shooter’s season two finals to be streamed live from the ESL studios in Cologne, Germany.
“For many of our users, using a safe and private method of paying online is very important,” said Ulrich Schulze, Managing Director of Pro Gaming at ESL. “We are happy to have paysafecard on board who offer exactly that, and their support for many of our tournaments will help us achieve great things this year and in the years to come.”
“This year paysafecard will make every effort to create unforgettable eSports moments for gamers around the world,” said Udo Müller, CEO paysafecard. “We are proud that we could team up with ESL, someone who is just as determined as we are to make gamers and their interests the focus of our work.”
