Auto Club Revolution is coming to China. Eutechnyx, the UK-based developer & publisher of automotive Motorsport racing games, and KongZhong Corporation (NASDAQ: KONG), a leading provider of digital entertainment services in the People’s Republic of China, have formed a strategic partnership conferring to KongZhong the exclusive rights to publish and operate Eutechnyx’ free-to-play online racing & car community game, Auto Club Revolution (“ACR”), across mainland China. The deal will make the title a pioneer in China’s burgeoning video game market hungry for western content.
KongZhong’s Chairman and CEO, Mr. WangLeilei, noted, “Eutechnyx is a world-wide famous game developer, with many of its games published by the console game industry’s leading players. Leveraging on Eutechnyx’ 25-year racing game development experience and KongZhong’s mainland China operation and marketing experience, we believe ACR will have great success in China by bringing Chinese players the first free-to-play simulated online racing game.”
According to the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Chinese online game market revenues reached 60.13 billion RMB by the end of 2012, with 336 million players. Despite this, however, there has never been a world-class, free-to-play online simulation racing game in China. Both Eutechnyx and KongZhong, the publisher of the incredibly successful World of Tanks in China and a major regional force in digital entertainment, consider Auto Club Revolution a forerunner in bridging the currently underserved gap between China’s rapidly growing gaming audience and its automotive market, which is the largest in the world.
“KongZhong is one of the leading providers of online gaming experiences in China, and the perfect partner to introduce Auto Club Revolution, and the racing genre as a whole, to Chinese gamers. This is indeed a great honor for Eutechnyx.” remarked Darren Jobling, CEO of Eutechnyx. “As a company, we’re always looking forward for new opportunities to break down the borders between developers and players. By working with KongZhong, we can reach out to an untapped audience hungry for fresh gameplay experiences, while continuing to bring only the best product possible to our fans around the world through our close relationships with global leaders in the automotive and gaming sectors.”
Auto Club Revolution launched its Closed Alpha Test stage today, which will enable player feedback to be incorporated to create the best user experience possible, shaping the future of ACR in China.
Currently available as a free-to-play online title in UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Russia, Auto Club Revolution is playable at www.AutoClubRevolution.com. A full release is expected in China later in 2014 and players in China will be able to register their interest for an account here: acr.kongzhong.com.
