CCP Games, the world’s leading independent developer of sci-fi MMO, EVE Online®, which celebrates its ten year anniversary this year, is pleased to announce their success at the World Summit Award in the e-Entertainment and Games category.
The World Summit Award (WSA) is an initiative backed by all United Nations bodies including, UNESCO, UNDP and UNIDO. The United Nations World Summit on Information Society (UN-WSIS), select the most outstanding e-Content that is considered to make a difference on a global scale. This year saw over 460 nominees enter the competition from all over the world with the finalists invited to attend a three day WSA Global Summit in Sri Lanka. EVE Online was selected by the on-site international experts jury as World Summit Award 2013 – Global Champion and became one of the top five winners in the category e-Entertainment & Games.
Örvar Halldórsson, Eve Online Game Design Director, took to the stage in Colombo to receive the award on behalf of CCP Games.
CCP will continue to build their e-Content with the release of EVE Online: Rubicon, the 20th free expansion to the award-winning sci-fi MMO EVE Online®. Due for release on November 19th, Rubicon builds upon ten years of constant subscriber growth and EVE’s latest and most successful expansions, Retribution and Odyssey.
