In the newest episode of the series that uncovers stories behind some of the biggest names in esports and gaming, Ash shares exclusive insights into his incredible journey from humble beginnings in Pakistan to becoming one of the best Tekken players in history.
Arslan “Ash” Siddique is a 25-year-old professional Tekken player based in Lahore, Pakistan. In his Unfold episode, we get a glimpse into the thriving esports scene in Pakistan, as Arslan shares how he grew up opposite a gaming arcade, where he spent the majority of his time playing Tekken and found his passion for the game. The episode features interviews with special guests including the American professional Tekken player Anakin who reminisces, “I met Ash at EVO 2019 in the top 3…and he beat me up really good.”
After gaining momentum within his locales in Lahore, Ash began competing against higher ranking players across Pakistan to further develop his skills. He then decided to dedicate all of his energy and time to practicing, leading him to becoming the Tekken EVO Japan 2019 world champion.
The newest Unfold episode also sheds light on Arslan’s personal life – his close ties to his family, the unfortunate passing of his father while he was still a teenager and how esports has since changed his life.
Ash’s passion for the game and his community drives his ambitions to help develop and grow Pakistan’s gaming infrastructure. During the Covid 19 pandemic, Ash identified a huge issue in speed lags in Pakistan which affected a gamer’s ability to play and compete at high levels online. In the episode, Ash also discusses how he decided to rent a facility so gamers from across the country could come and play, and even stay as long as they like, in a bid to help aspiring professional gamers and enhance their skills.
