Gfinity launches first of its kind, bespoke Tournament Builder application for Xbox One users
Gfinity (AIM: GFIN), a leading eSports business, is pleased to announce the global launch of its Tournament Builder App (“The App”), exclusively for Xbox One users.
The Tournament Builder App, which will appear on the Xbox One dashboard, provides gamers of all levels with a facility in which they can compete online via Gfinity.net. The bespoke application will, for the first time, enable Xbox One users to create and manage their own league, ladder and cup competitions for any game that can be played on the Xbox One console. It will give players a new level of access to the Gfinity platform, an enhanced tournament management system and an all-round improved gaming experience.
Neville Upton, Chief Executive Officer of Gfinity, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our Tournament Builder App on Xbox One which will enhance the Gfinity offering and enable us to reach Xbox One’s 18 million users globally, offering this new larger audience the opportunity to interact with the Gfinity brand. We look forward to continuing our innovative development, expanding our reach and establishing ourselves as a platform for gamers of all levels who want to collaborate and enjoy playing online”
The launch of the App is part of Gfinity’s stated strategy to invest in the business to build its reputation with game publishers, prospective sponsors and the wider eSports community by developing a range of assets, which provide it with unique capability within the industry and a strong platform from which to monetise.
The App is part of an ongoing collaboration and strengthening of ties between Gfinity and Microsoft. In November 2015, Gfinity were selected by Microsoft to host the UK Halo World Championship 2016, which took place in January 2016 and are currently hosting Xbox’s European FIFA 16 Play Like a Legend Championship for the second successive year. Both tournaments use online ladders and culminate in live finals at the Gfinity Arena in London.
