Mobile network gives gamers the chance to win share of £10,000 prize fund
This autumn mobile network giffgaff will be giving avid gamers in the UK, as well as total newcomers to the world of eSports, the chance to win a slice of a £10,000 prize fund in the next League of Legends tournament. To get involved, gamers will need to get together a group of five mates, as well as some time to play and most importantly, a winning team name.
giffgaff will be working alongside game studio Riot Games to up the ante for this year’s tournament, providing a range of Riot Points and merchandise, as well as hard cash for those lucky teams who make it through to the final stages of the tournament.
To get involved, head to esports.giffgaff.com and sign up before 5th October 2014.
With over 67 million players worldwide each month, League of Legends has fast become one of the worlds most popular eSports games, hosting tournaments throughout the year for fans and new players. The top eight teams who make it through to the end of this autumn’s tournament will also be invited, courtesy of giffgaff, to take on their competitors face to face at the UK’s biggest gaming festival – Insomnia53 – in Coventry in November.
For those looking to try out eSports for the first time, giffgaff will also be creating a series of ‘how to’ and information videos throughout October at esports.giffgaff.com to show just how it’s done by the experts, and how online gaming can be a pretty lucrative business. Those giving exclusive insight into the world of online gaming will include Michael ‘Odee’ O’Dell (Team Dignitas) and William ‘Scarra’ Li (North American League of Legends Team Coach) amongst others
