GAME welcomed nocturnal Pokémon fans to its midnight launch events for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon last night. Thousands of would-be trainers attended the events at 312 stores across the country, enjoying entertainment in the lead up to midnight while they waited to take home their games, which are set for wide release today.
GAME stores and staff were decked out in Pokémon themed décor with competitive battling, movie screenings and live tournaments involving real Pokémon trading cards taking place instore.
One such store was GAME in Camden, which saw queues forming before the store reopened. The first customer to get his hands on the game was Adam Tyler, 32, from North London. He said, “I’ve been looking forward to the release of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, the background graphics for the Alola region look stunning. I couldn’t resist taking home a copy of each game as I have always collected both versions of Pokémon releases. Pokémon fans are a bit of a family, and everyone makes an effort to come out at midnight for a new release. GAME always hosts a great launch, with all the staff getting involved and dressing up; it’s good fun.”
Celebrating 20 years since the launch of Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Green Version in Japan, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon represent the next era of Pokémon games, available on the Nintendo 3DS family systems.
