INDEPENDENT FILM’S RODRIGO SAAVEDRA NEW MUSIC FILM TAKES PYJAMA CLAD WOMAN ON SLEEPWALKING TOUR OF THE CITY WITH HER DOG
The charming film, helmed by The Directors Bureau’ and Independent Film’s Rodrigo Saavedra, takes its name from Niki & The Dove’s track ‘coconut kiss’ and tells the tale of a pyjama-clad young woman who’s taken on a sleepwalking tour of the city by her dog.
“Coconut Kiss” starts with a young woman having a heated argument on the phone with her ex-boyfriend. It seems that he has changed his status to single on Facebook just two days after their break-up. Wearing her beautiful Nufferton PJs she goes to bed, rather angry, and looks at pictures of herself with her ex-boyfriend before dosing off. Her rather cheeky dog then takes advantage of the fact that she’s a sleepwalker and takes her for a journey around town. This journey in reality is intercut with what she’s dreaming of, a wondrous walk through a beautiful and mysterious tropical island.
The storytelling highlights the brand’s tagline “Dreamed up in Stockholm” created by the creative agency Golf. The agency is the new venture of BBH New York and Mother London alumni Henrik Düfke and Felipe Montt. The two said ‘Nufferton is a brand that’s all about dreaming, and dreams aren’t always the same, sometimes they’re romantic, sometimes they’re beautiful, sometimes they’re eery, and sometimes they’re all of the above at the same time’
With this brief in mind they reached out to Niki & The Dove who willingly ceded their track after hearing director Rodrigo Saavedra’s bittersweet and rather funny take on the ‘Dreamed up in Stockholm’ concept.
Rodrigo Saavedra said of the film, ‘I wanted to tell a story that was both beautiful and funny, aesthetically striking but also silly, the idea of dogs taking advantage of their owners sleepwalking condition to go for a long midnight stroll felt very charming to me.’
The film was produced by the award winning production company The Directors Bureau in collaboration with Landia, both standout production companies in AdAge’s 2016 list. In the UK, Saavedra is represented by Independent.
