To celebrate the rise of smartphone gaming, Carphone Warehouse has reimagined major British cities, in the style of the nation’s favourite video games.
A survey of over 1,000 British gamers revealed that the most popular game was in fact Grand Theft Auto, with more than a quarter (27%) of Brits choosing it as their favourite. When asked about mobile gaming in general, almost half thought that it had improved (40%), with a quarter (27%) now spending more time playing games on their mobile than their console.
In celebration of this shift in gaming culture, Carphone Warehouse has created new levels for the nation’s favourite games, in the style of some Great British cities, taking each game and the location it proved most popular in, to produce ‘Gaming Cities’:
Crash Bandicoot was the most popular in the North of England. As well as being a retro classic, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was re-released last year and was an instant hit. In this version of the game, Crash travels through Newcastle, bumping into the usual suspects along the way.
Follow Princess Ida through the game that proved most popular in the South of England, with the well-known streets of England’s capital being transformed into a Monument Valley world.
A spokesperson from Carphone Warehouse said “It’s great to see such enthusiasm for mobile gaming, with almost half of British gamers agreeing that the quality has been improving over recent years.
It’s also fantastic to see our cities come to life in the gaming world, with our gallery of Gaming Cities.”
