The Creator Behind the Popular Word Game ‘Ruzzle’ Strengthens Its Position in the Trivia Genre by Acquiring ‘QuizDuel’
Swedish mobile game developer and publisher MAG Interactive today announced that it has acquired the Swedish mobile game developer, FEO Media, creator of highly successful trivia game, QuizDuel. The acquisition will strengthen MAG Interactive’s position within the trivia genre, next to its position as a global leader within the word game niche, with popular titles such as Ruzzle, Wordbrain and Wordalot. This is MAG Interactive’s third acquisition, after having acquired the game WordBrain in 2014 and the company Delinquent Interactive in 2015.
“This is a truly exciting step for MAG. With FEO Media under our wing, we are expanding our footprint and becoming a leader also within the trivia games category. Our player base has now grown significantly, with Monthly Active Users (MAU) exceeding 10 million”, said Daniel Hasselberg, CEO of MAG Interactive. “Now we have four trivia games to complement our strong offering within the word game genre. Together, the games in our portfolio have been downloaded more than 200 million times. With QuizDuel we will now also reach new markets such as Germany and Russia, and in addition can leverage MAG Interactive’s strong position in other regions, such as the USA, to improve its reach.
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, FEO Media develops casual games for mobile platforms that combine a fun and engaging user experience with top quality, localized content. In 2017, FEO Media reached over 100 million downloads across its game portfolio, consisting of QuizDuel and Pixduel.
“This feels like the perfect match for us. We have always felt a tremendous respect for not only the games MAG Interactive creates but also for MAG Interactive as a company, and we believe that our games and players are getting a very good home and a bright future”, said Robert Willstedt, Co-Founder of FEO Media. “QuizDuel is very close to our hearts, so it has been important for us when taking this step to feel that it will be in good and capable hands. We look forward to seeing it continue to prosper for many years to come.”
