NEW YORK — January 4, 2012 — Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games in a world gone mad, has found an old VHS tape for The Showdown Effect in its cousin’s garage and has released it for the world to see. The newfound “Meet the Cast” biography video introduces players to four of the 80’s/90’s action-movie archetypes starring in the upcoming title, bringing players a behind-the-scenes look at Paradox’s cinematic multiplayer 2.5D combat title, featuring commentary from Arrowhead action stars Johan Pilstedt and Emil Englund, as well as new game footage.
In a combination dev-diary/preview/feature/explosion video, fans can meet Dutch McClone, a time-traveling Austrian searching for his identity; Lance Koboldski, a grizzled cop with only one day until retirement; Hailey Skye, a plucky girl genius who’ll stop at nothing to uncover her father’s killer; and Shur Foo, a gentleman who seems to believe there’s no problem you can’t solve by punching it. A look at what went into these characters, and the game itself, can be watched here: http://youtu.be/d26EvvOWITU
Once players have met The Showdown Effect’s characters, they can shoot those characters to death over and over by signing up for the Beta test, here: beta.theshowdowneffect.com
