Nerd or Die has announced the acquisition of Gaming Careers to bolster its content offering in the space.
The Gaming Careers brand provides video and audio content to those looking to learn about streaming and on-demand video creation and has recently grown a YouTube channel to almost 300,000 subscribers. This content perfectly fits with the Nerd or Die goal of helping content creators improve the quality of their video, making the acquisition a natural partnership.
As part of the acquisition Pete Wilkins, founder of Gaming Careers, will gain a minority ownership stake in Nerd or Die and will continue to direct the Gaming Careers brand and all content released. The deal will also give him access to the Nerd or Die team of designers, editors, developers and other resources, which will allow for more content to be produced.
“Nerd or Die has been incredibly supportive of everything I’ve done with Gaming Careers over the past three years,” said Pete Wilkins, founder of Gaming Careers. “I’m excited to be able to continue creating content for the streaming community and working together to push Gaming Careers to the next level.”
For Nerd or Die, the acquisition furthers the company’s goal of providing the best library of resources to anyone looking to create video content. The reach of the Gaming Careers brand will allow Nerd or Die to present it’s massive library of high-quality assets to a larger audience, while also capitalising on the growing market of educational content for streamers and YouTubers.
“Both Nerd or Die and Gaming Careers have served millions of live streamers across the globe, with a core mission of lowering the barrier for broadcasters to create high-quality content,” said Derek Prodesky, CEO and Founder Nerd or Die. “The tutorials, reviews, and podcasts produced by Gaming Careers not only complement our existing products and tools, but will allow us to reach further into the broadcaster audience. This acquisition comes after almost three years of working closely with Pete Wilkins, and we’re excited to bring a new level of content to both brands.”
In the coming months, Nerd or Die will look to leverage Wilkins’ knowledge and skills to further improve the resources available on the platform, as well as expand the content production from the Nerd or Die brand.
