Pixel Ripped secure life changing investment from US virtual reality incubator ‘Boost VC’ to finish VR title, ‘Pixel Ripped 1989’’
Pixel Ripped has today accepted an investment deal from Silicon Valley based virtual reality and bitcoin venture capital investors, ‘Boost VC’. The three month incubator program includes relocation to California, office space for the Pixel Ripped team at Boost VC HQ, dedicated mentors and housing directly across the road from the office! Ana Ribeiro and Stef Keegan, the dynamic duo behind ‘Pixel Ripped 1989’ have naturally gone mental with excitement at the prospect of finishing their debut title in America!
“This means we can crack on with development for three months without worrying about the visa problems that have been hanging over us,” the team explains in a Kickstarter update. “We are continuing to work hard to get funded so that we can finish developing the game, expand our team and pay for licences and legal stuff, thankfully, one of the biggest hurdles has been removed!”
Pixel Ripped 1989’s recent Kickstarter bid was unsuccessful in terms of securing kickstarter funding, but the buzz surrounding the title alerted the top brass at Boost VC which directly led to this exciting opportunity. Based out in Silicon Valley, the Pixel Ripped team will be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in VR such as Facebook, Oculus and Boost VC’s various partners. This is a life changing and career defining moment for the team and they intend to make the most of this incredible turn of events!
Pixel Ripped 1989 sees videogame addict, Nicola struggling to play her favourite titles on a handheld console within a virtual world in the year 1989. She must defeat the distractions of the everyday so she can get on with what’s truly important, playing videogames in class and getting away with it! Pixel Ripped 1989 is a game within a game and will virtually immerse players in the world of video gaming like never before.
This title is also envisaged to be the first in a series of Pixel Ripped adventures. The team have plans that would see, Nicola travel through time to play games from different eras of videogame history, from the black and white 2D pixel blocks of 1979 through to the colourful sprites of the late 90’ and early 00’s.
