Given a choice, would you vote for the crocodile or the mouse? Don’t panic, UK politics hasn’t got *even weirder*, it’s just that the world of video games has caught up with the silliness and tribalism of modern day politics.
Philippines based indie developers Squeaky Wheel, the studio headed by ex-Prison Architect artist Ryan Sumo, are making their way all 10,767km from Manila to Birmingham to demo ‘Political Animals’, their innovative Political Strategy game for the PC & Mac. The game is based around the temptations of corruption in modern day politics, something that citizens of the Philippines know all about.
In Political Animals, you play a meritocratic mouse, a corrupt crocodile, or another inhabitant of a colourful island nation at the start of a presidential election campaign. Do you try to win voters over to your favourite causes legitimately? Or do you just bribe them? Do you play fair? Or let your thugs loose to intimidate rival campaigns? You may be able to win the election, but can you do it without getting your hands/paws/talons dirty?
Political Animals is coming to the PC & Mac soon! (hopefully before the US elections). It’s confirmed for release on Steam, and also direct from the publisher (Positech Games, makers of Democracy 3), and likely Humble & GoG too.
