Brent Cross & Highcross Shopping Centres bring in human charge points to help trainers in need
29th July 2016: Brent Cross & Highcross shopping centres are hiring a team of “Recharge Rescuers” to help customers charge their mobile phones in centre.
As Pokémon Go continues to sweep the nation, phone batteries are being drained quicker than ever, leaving keen fans in need of a power boost.
A team of staff, the ‘Recharge Rescuers’ will be touring the centres, particularly around areas where there are known Pokestops and Gyms, offering portable battery chargers to any customers who are running low on fuel. Brent Cross and Highcross have two Pokestops between them, and, amongst the wider Hammerson portfolio, there is a total of 4 gyms and 27 pokestops including a gym at Bullring’s Bull.
Both centres already have lockable charging stations, but with gamers keen to keep on hunting in search of rare Pokémon, portable chargers will allow them to continue their quest to try and catch them all.
Fiona Campbell-Roberts, UK Head of Marketing, Hammerson commented, “Pokémon Go has taken the UK by storm and as we’ve now hit the school holiday season we know our customers especially those with young families will want to keep playing, even whilst they shop. Our Recharge Rescuers will be on hand to help people power up on the go and keep on playing for longer.”
If the trial is well received from customers, Hammerson will look to roll out the service across all of its shopping centre locations.
