RED BULL BATTLE GROUNDS brings eSports entertainment to the city that never sleeps – NEW YORK!
In the StarCraft® II pro tournament on November 23-24, 2013, in New York City, the world’s best professional gamers will compete for $50,000.
In the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, premium eSports entertainment will be brought to the East Coast. During the first Red Bull Battle Grounds in the Big Apple, eight professional players will battle it out in Blizzard’s award-winning strategy game StarCraft® II for the championship title and $50,000 on November 23rd and 24th.
The field of competitors is drawn from the legendary Korean pros and winners of the Red Bull Battle Grounds 2012, Jang Min ‘MC’ Chul (@sk_mc), and Red Bull athlete Ji Sung “Bomber” Choi (@Startale_Bomber), as well as this year’s champions Myeong Hwan “Golden” Jo (@ST_Golden), winner of the Red Bull Training Grounds Santa Monica, and Jens “Snute” Aasgaard (@LiquidSnute), winner of the Red Bull Training Grounds Orlando. But the favorite of the evening is 20-year old Kim “sOs” Yoo Jin, who just last weekend secured the title as the best player in the world at the World Championship Series, the “SuperBowl” of StarCraft® II. The line-up is rounded out by the North-American heroine, Sasha “Scarlett” Hostyn, and Won “PartinG” Lee and Ko “HyuN” from Korea, who prevailed over 750 other select players in the online qualifications.
The commentators for the Red Bull Battle Grounds in New York, including major names in the scene such as Sean “Day” Plott, Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham, Ben “MrBitter” Nichol, and British game critic John “TotalBiscuit” Bain, will provide outstanding entertainment during and between the white-knuckle matches not only for the spectators on site, but also via Twitch.tv livestream.
