Resonate – Total Gaming is an exciting new festival of eSports and gaming, coming to the SECC, Glasgow from 29 – 31 July 2016. This festival will appeal to the professional eSports fan, diehard gamer, or casual player and families offering engaging content to entertain thousands during the three-day celebration of all things gaming!
The time is right in Scotland for this event. The industry in the UK is worth over £3.9bn and our cities are clearly identified as game-making hubs. Resonate will be a crucial part of that drive and the festival has its gaming thumbs poised to bring the Scottish industry together with the ever passionate gaming community.
Tsitsi Lynn Makuni, Show Director, said,
“We are working closely with our partners and other Glasgow gaming businesses to ensure Resonate becomes an exhilarating focal point of Glasgow’s gaming community. Designed with gaming enthusiasts at its core, our guests will have the opportunity to explore and play new, retro and independent games, meet some of their YouTube & broadcast heroes as well as the developers responsible for creating some of the world’s leading games!”
Resonate have partnered with Gfinity, one of the world’s top eSports agencies, alongside All 4 Games, a new Glasgow-based publishing arm of Channel 4, which will support and showcase the work of the thriving mobile games industry.
Channel 4 Games Commissioner, Colin MacDonald, said,
“All 4 Games is all about harnessing the creativity of new games and getting them out there to a playing audience. Resonate is doing exactly that – but in a live environment! Dundee has long been the heart of gaming in Scotland, so it’s great to see the industries expansion into other cities like Glasgow through events such as Resonate. We’re really excited to be part of it – and look forward to celebrating all things gaming!”
One of Resonate’s key supporters is UKie, the only trade body for the UK’s wider games and interactive entertainment industry.
Dr Jo Twist, UKie CEO, said,
“Resonate: Total Gaming will shine a welcome spotlight on Scotland’s impressive games sector, which is a vital economic and cultural contributor to the UK’s games industry, and is the birthplace to the fastest selling entertainment product of all time, Grand Theft Auto V, as well as many other well-known titles and technologies. Glasgow is bursting with talent, creativity and culture so we are pleased to support Resonate’s mission to celebrate games, the Scottish sector’s creativity, and raising the profile of this important games city.”
Working closely with Resonate is Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
Joe Aitken, Head of Major Events at Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said,
