WINNERS OF “THE WATCH_DOGS FILM FEST” REVEALED
A RECORD NUMBER OF ENTRIES FOR UBISOFT’S FIRST INTERNATIONAL VIDEO COMPETITION WITH MORE THAN 850 ENTRIES SUBMITTED AROUND THE WORLD
Today, the winners of the Watch_Dogs Film Fest have been unveiled by the Jury composed of International Film Director Louis Leterrier, Thomas Geffroyd, Watch_Dogs Brand Content Director, and Jonathan Morin, Creative Director on Watch_Dogs 2 at Ubisoft Montreal.
Sponsored by Parrot, Sony and YouTube Gaming, the Watch_Dogs Film Fest is a short film contest organised by Ubisoft and open to anyone willing to share their creative vision by producing a short film with the theme of “Hacking Heroes”. Participants from multiple backgrounds and nationalities around the world contributed to making this first edition of the film festival a successful premiere for Ubisoft. The jury were truly impressed by the creativity and commitment demonstrated by the more than 850 contestants through their creations. Not only did they submit original, well directed and fun videos but also some truly emotional stories.
The Grand Jury Prize – consisting of €50,000 cash and 2 tickets for the Assassin’s Creed movie premiere – was awarded to Jamesfcoton, from FRANCE with the video “ANONYMOUS”, an “impressive and incredible piece of work” according to Louis Le Terrier, Film Director. “While execution is flawless and inspired, it is really the rhythm of the video that seduced me. Acting and monologue were also very close to WATCH_DOGS spirit”, said Thomas Geffroyd. Described as “a touching film, fuelled with delicacy and intelligence”, by Louis Le Terrier, the video entitled “WAKE_UP”, directed by Raùl Gòmez from SPAIN, won the Jury “Coup de Coeur” prize – consisting of 10 000€ cash, 2 tickets for Assassin’s Creed movie premiere, a PS4 PRO, Watch_Dogs’ collector edition “The return of Dedsec” & a Parrot Bebop 2. Lastly, “Watch Dogs Review Intro” was the most acclaimed video on the Watch_Dogs Film Fest website granting its author Razzraziel from TURKEY the Public Vote Prize, consisting of €5,000 cash, a Watch_Dogs 2 PS4 bundle, a Parrot Bebop 2 & a Parrot Jumping Race drone. “I knew fans were passionate about the game so they would be inspired but I was truly impressed by the quality, the imagination and all-together talent behind all the videos submitted” said Louis Leterrier. “It was a really hard choice and we had to watch many of these shorts several times before making our final decisions.”
In addition to these three international prizes, Influencer prizes were also awarded locally by famous content creators in France, Germany, England, Spain, Italy, Australia, Russia and MENA.
