With the release of World of Warcraft Mist of Pandaria, Bradygames has released another one of their guides. The Guide covers the new content added with the release of the new expansion known as MoP from the level 1-10 starting zone on the Wandering Isle all the way to the new pet battle system. The guide is littered with helpful tips and pretty pictures so the reader can easily depict something they don’t understand from the text by looking at the image that accompanies it.
The guide is more of a beginner’s guide or a welcome back guide to players that have recently come back to the expansion after a long break. This is mainly because it covers a lot of basic content that most veteran players would know like the back of their hands. Things such as how to move the user interface, sending and receiving in game mail, how to communicate with other players and other very basic commands and interactions.
The guide starts off with an introduction to WoW answering some very simple questions such as; why should I play WoW? Will I get addicted to WoW? The introduction of this guide is recommended for players or parents of players who are thinking of signing up to the game for the first time.
The second section of the guide is an expansive beginner’s guide to World of Warcraft explaining all the basic system commands and interactions the average player will have to use to progress through the game. The beginner’s section covers 27 major aspects of playing the game these sections are; Picking the right realm, creating your first character, movement and combat, interacting with other players, making a group or party, gaining levels and talent points and other minor thing such as getting a haircut. After covering the basics the beginner’s guide finishes by covering each of the races old and new for both factions covering their racial abilities and their available classes, each of the races starting zones and choosing your first class.
The guide then jumps straight to the new and changed Mists of Pandaria content, this section of the guide covers the new additions to the expansion such as; the new race Pandarens, the new class Monk, cross realm zones and the new levelling zones for the new race and the level 85 – 90 content. This section then goes to list all of the levelling zones in order making the levelling process much easier than have to guess where to quest next on your travels; the guide lists them in horde, alliance and neutral questing zones. Leaving no confusion between where you can and cannot quest. After this it continues to cover the new or changing content that comes with MoP the new glyph system, battlenet account achievements, changes to professions, interface changes and the new factions you will have to gain reputation for to get some of the justice and valour gear as well as some exotic mounts and companions.
The newest addition to World of Warcraft is the new pet battle system and the guide covers this extensively from; learning the skill, keeping your pets healthy, gaining new pets, fighting with your pet, battling NPC trainers and players. The guide then goes into a more advanced coverage for the players that wish to improve their pet battling ability even more. Listing types of pets, their strengths and weaknesses, abilities and then listing the location of every pet that can enter the battles for the collectors. The pet’s location, how they are acquired, skills, name and type of pet are listed in an easy to follow table.
The guide also explores all of the new world dungeons and raids scattered across Pandaria and the new revised dungeons, using the dungeon and raid finder tool, scenarios and the challenge mode dungeons.
The next section of the guide lists the new questing zones outlining where the quests start for each faction and what order they progress in, whom to get the quests off and where each quest is located, it also lists the types of fish, mines and herbs that can be gathered in each area.
It also has an in depth guide to each class their abilities and equipment the available races for each class and their game play mechanics. For an example the Death Knight Class, lists runic power and how it is used, their presence mechanic and the rune ability and how each of these are gained, spent and the outcomes of using them at the right or wrong time.
