Offworld Industries and Knights Peak have rolled out a brand-new update for Starship Troopers Extermination, and it’s packed with fresh content, gameplay tweaks, and much-needed performance improvements. Update 1.9 is now live across all platforms, giving troopers even more reasons to dive back into the fight against the Arachnid threat.
With new enemy types, dynamic ambush modifiers, and expanded weapon customisation, this update leans hard into chaos, teamwork, and tactical decision-making. Everyone fights. No one quits.
Meet the Fire Bombardier
The headline addition in Update 1.9 is a new Arachnid enemy: the Fire Bombardier. Unlike bugs that go for quick, explosive kills, these sadistic creatures weaponise fire, leaving behind zones of lingering flames that make rescues far more dangerous.
Downed teammates are now harder to recover, positioning matters more than ever, and battlefield control becomes a critical factor when Fire Bombardiers are present.
New Ambush Mutators Shake Up Missions
Early field reports suggest the Arachnids are adapting. Update 1.9 introduces new Ambush Mutators that can dynamically alter how missions unfold:
- Royal Guard Ambushes
- Inferno Ambushes
- Fire Bombardier Ambushes
These modifiers introduce unexpected enemy compositions and force squads to stay alert, adapt loadouts on the fly, and rethink defensive strategies.
Royal Guards Leave the Hive
Royal Guards are no longer confined to their hives. These elite Arachnids can now roam the battlefield and may attack during Horde and ARC/AAS Defence phases.
Their presence significantly raises the difficulty ceiling during defensive moments, punishing unprepared squads and rewarding coordinated firepower.
New Weapon Mods and Armoury Tuning
Update 1.9 also expands the Armoury with new unlockable weapon modifications and balance tuning:
ATK Rounds
Advanced Tiger Kill rounds are designed to punch through even the thickest chitin. While controversial among hunters for removing the “sport” from the kill, they offer raw stopping power for troopers who prefer brute force over precision.
Mag Optic
A low-magnification optic that bridges the gap between reflex sights and full scopes, offering improved battlefield awareness at close to mid-range.
Napalm Grenades
A new grenade modification that allows troopers to saturate areas with incendiary damage. Napalm Grenades create lingering fire zones that burn bugs, block enemy movement, and even destroy bug corpses. They’re devastating for area denial but less effective against fast or fire-resistant enemies.
Performance Improvements and Quality-of-Life Fixes
Alongside new content, Update 1.9 delivers a wide range of fixes and improvements, including:
- Performance and optimisation improvements
- Weapon mod icon updates
- Prosthetic Servo tweaks
- Carnage Corpse bug pile fixes
- Mission tuning and side objective adjustments
The full breakdown is available via the official patch notes for those who want every detail.
