Atari announces the Atari VCS Vault, an all-new version of the classic Atari Vault collection, optimized for the Atari VCS and that takes advantage of the special features of the all-new Wireless Classic Joystick.
The Atari VCS Vault will be available as a free download for all Atari VCS owners and features 100 of the most popular Atari hits from the classic arcade and the original Atari 2600 system, including Adventure, Asteroids, Centipede, Pong, and Warlords. The Atari VCS Vault Vol. 2, which will be offered as a $4.99 download, focuses on 50 additional games, including some of the most beloved Atari 5200 titles and other creative interpretations like Yars’ Return, Atari Basketball, Millipede, and Star Raiders.
Atari VCS owners will be able to take full advantage of the modern features of the new Wireless Classic Joystick. Inspired by the Atari 2600’s classic CX40, the retro-inspired joystick reimagining includes numerous new functions and inputs such as a rotating center stick for paddle and steering games, rumble and LED lighting effects, and convenient USB connectivity.
Atari is currently focused on fulfilling all consumer pre-orders for Atari VCS units, including those from Indiegogo backers, with the highest priority. Once those have been shipped, we will announce limited availability for media and content creators, and take requests for review units at that time.
