Capcom has set its sights high for FY 2024, expecting to sell 50 million copies of its games. The Japanese giant has been on a steady upward trajectory in recent years, and 2024 looks to be no exception. With a forecasted growth of 8.9% compared to last year’s 45.89 million units, Capcom continues to build on its momentum.
Big Releases Drive Growth
Capcom’s FY 2024 sales are set to be boosted by some heavy hitters. Dragon’s Dogma II, which launched on March 22, 2024, has already stirred excitement among fans and is expected to contribute significantly to this year’s numbers. Plus, the highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds is slated for release in February 2025, adding further fuel to the sales surge.
Digital Dominance
In line with the industry’s shift towards digital, Capcom projects that 93.2% of its sales will come from digital downloads, totaling around 46.6 million copies. Physical sales, by contrast, are expected to reach just 3.4 million units. This shift is notable given that in FY 2015, digital sales made up less than half of Capcom’s total sales. By FY 2019, they accounted for 80.6%, showcasing the rapid adoption of digital gaming.
A Decade of Growth
Looking back, Capcom has come a long way. In FY 2015, the company sold just 15 million units. Fast forward to FY 2024, and they are on track for a 233.33% increase over the past decade. This sustained growth reflects both a robust lineup of games and the company’s ability to adapt to changing market trends.
