Crunchyroll and Anime Limited have joined forces to bring Crunchyroll Movie Night at Home to the UK and Ireland, which will see awesome new film premieres hitting the platform on the 1st of every month for the next 12 months! Select films will also be available to fans in the United States.
Kicking off the series on Saturday 1 May is “Penguin Highway”and each film will stay on Crunchyroll for the whole month so sit back, grab your popcorn and enjoy!
In “Penguin Highway”, Aoyama-kun is an intelligent and studious 4th grade student who is constantly jotting down everything that he learns in his notebooks. He is also on good terms with “Onee-san”, a young lady who works at the dental clinic that Aoyama-kun goes to. Aoyama-kun is shocked one day when he encounters a penguin in the middle of his suburban town, which is nowhere near the sea. The mystery only deepens when Aoyama-kun observes “Onee-san” tossing away a can of cola, only for the can to turn into a penguin!
“Our Crunchyroll Movie Nights have always been a meaningful way for the anime community to come together and we’re so excited to offer fans a digital way to gather and celebrate these incredible films,” said Mary Franklin, head of events, Crunchyroll. “We’re glad to be working with Anime Ltd to bring these films directly into the homes of our community.”
Once launched, each film will stay on Crunchyroll for the full month and will be replaced by a new film on the 1st of every month.

- 1st January 2022: “5CM Per Second” (UK/IE)
- 1st February 2022: “Your Name ” (UK/IE)
- 1st March 2022: “Children Who Chase Lost Voices” (UK/IE)
- 1st April 2022: “The Place Promised in Our Early Days” (UK/IE)
