Disappointment for the Red Bull Racing Esports Team at round two of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup at Barcelona Circuit. Sebastian Job, Graham Carroll and Patrik Holzmann’s championship hopes were hindered when they were all involved in collisions.
Sebastian started well in the sprint race but was forced to hit the brakes hard on the first lap, resulting in a hit from behind. Whilst trying to regain control, Sebastian hit the kerb which flipped him onto his roof. He was able to rejoin the race but with his damaged Porsche, was only able to cross the line in 36th. Teammates Patrik and Graham were also hindered by the accident, Patrik was forced to retire with Graham finishing 30th.
Despite starting the endurance race from the back of the grid, Sebastian had a fantastic start, climbing to twentieth until he was clipped by another driver, spinning him off the track. More contact later in the race caused him to drop back further, crossing the line in 26th place, one position out of the points.
Graham was unlucky in the endurance race, spinning at turn two on the first lap, which caused excessive damage to his car, forcing him to retire. Patrik was the only driver in the Team to avoid incidents, finishing 21st, just inside the points.
Sebastian comments on a frustrating day for the Team, “Today was very disappointing. I was showing great pace in practice which meant I was feeling confident going into the race today. My pace was good at the start but unfortunately, I got wiped out on multiple occasions, none of which were my fault. Hopefully the next race at Donington Park is better”
Graham added, “I had a frustrating round today; similar to my teammates Sebastian and Patrik, I was also taken out multiple times in both races. I’m looking forward to racing at Donington and will try to stay positive despite the results today.”
Avoiding any incidents in the second race, Patrik comments, “My race pace was looking promising at the start, but I got caught up in the multiple collisions which compromised my race. Fortunately, I was able to score some points in the second race.”
Round three of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup will be at the Donington Park on Saturday 23 May, starting at 15:00BST.
