CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher series of games, would like to invite gamers and esports enthusiasts to watch this weekend’s December 2017 GWENT Challenger tournament.
December 2017 Challenger is the next in a series of official The Witcher Card Game tournaments. This time around, 8 of the best players from across GWENT’s esports series fight for their share of a $100,000 prize pool. However, only one person will leave the event with the winner’s ring and the right to compete in GWENT World Masters — the grand finale of GWENT’s esports series, which will take place in 2019.
The tournament opens with the quarterfinals on Saturday, December 16th. The semifinals and final are set to follow on Sunday, December 17th. All matches will be livestreamed on the official CD PROJEKT RED Twitch channel, with the GWENT Masters Twitter posting regular updates on the state of the tournament throughout the event.
Hosting the tournament will be Critical Role’s Matthew Mercer and Marisha Ray. Returning to man the commentator desk are GWENT players and streamers: Connagh “Merchant” Hawkins, Dane “McBeard” McBurnie, Miguel “MegaMogwai” Guerrero León and David “ImpetuousPanda” Gil Nolskog, with Sean “Swim” Huguenard joining them as the tournament’s analyst.
During the tournament, thanks to Twitch drops, viewers will be able to earn rewards such as Card Kegs, a special player title, as well as the winner’s favorite card. Details on Twitch drops are available at playgwent.com/twitch-drops.
