NACON has released a major new update for Dragonkin The Banished, introducing the beta version of its highly anticipated online co-op mode on PC. The update launched on February 25 and gives players their first chance to team up with friends to battle the growing draconic threat together.
The co-op feature is currently available for PC players during the game’s Early Access phase, while console players will soon be able to join the action when the full version launches later this month.

Online Co-Op Brings Team-Based Dragon Hunting
The new online co-op mode allows players to form parties of two to four dragon hunters and explore the world together. Whether tackling story missions or challenging endgame content, teamwork becomes a key part of survival against the powerful draconic forces threatening humanity.
Progression in co-op is designed to ensure everyone benefits. Each player receives their own loot drops during gameplay, while still being able to freely trade items with other members of the group. This system allows players to help each other refine their builds and strengthen their characters as they progress.
The City of Montescail Acts as a Social Hub
At the heart of Dragonkin The Banished lies the City of Montescail, a central hub where players can gather and prepare for their next hunt. The city evolves as players gain experience and contribute to its development.
As Montescail grows, new services and upgrades become available. These improvements benefit the entire player community, adding a shared progression element that ties together both solo and cooperative play.
Even the game’s endgame content supports cooperative play, allowing teams to continue their adventures together once the main story is complete.
Flexible Co-Op Options
Beyond online multiplayer, Dragonkin: The Banished also supports local co-op for two players on the same screen. Players can even combine local and online gameplay, meaning two people playing locally can join two additional friends online to form a full four-player party.
This flexibility makes it easier for players to team up regardless of how they prefer to play.
Deep Character Builds and Dragon Companions
In Dragonkin The Banished, players take on the role of one of four dragon hunters fighting to free humanity from invading draconic forces. Each hero can be customized through deep progression systems designed to encourage experimentation and theorycrafting.
The core of this system is the Ancestral Grid, a unique skill mechanic that allows players to combine fragments discovered during their journey. These fragments enhance abilities and open up countless build possibilities.
Players are also accompanied by loyal dragonets, small dragon companions that aid them in battle as they uncover the story and take on increasingly dangerous enemies.
Full Launch Arrives in March
Dragonkin The Banished is currently available in Early Access on Steam. The full 1.0 release will arrive on PC on March 16, followed by console versions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 19, 2026.
With co-op now entering beta and the full release approaching, players will soon be able to experience the complete dragon-hunting adventure together.
