AS Monaco continues to lead the Regular League table after Matchday 4, but the day left many surprises and many teams tied in both the Knockout Stage and bottom positions. Each match was full of excitement, with comebacks and goals during injury time. After all the action, ASM Usmakabyle and ASM Kilzyou are still on top of the individual awards rankings.
The first fixture was played by FC Barcelona, with both Barcelona and FC Schalke 04 in need of all six points. The Blaugrana squad finally managed to get four, with the Germans tying the first game with a goal from MEROMEN. The result (1-1 and 0-1) provided the least goals for the whole of Matchday 4.
The second fixture, between FC Nantes and Arsenal FC, was very even, especially during the first game. Until the last breath, it seemed that the result could have gone either way, and finally the Canaries scored in the 6th minute of injury time (3-2) to break the deadlock. However, in the second game, Arsenal FC dominated the scoreboard (0-2) and won three points that helped them in the table.
The match between Juventus and Manchester United FC was clearly dominated by the Italian team. Nevertheless, the English squad did not stop fighting at any moment and was close to come back at the end of Game 1 (3-2). The second game finished with a lone goal of LoScandalo (1-0).
Arguably the most exciting fixture of the day was between Boavista FC and FC Bayern München. The Portuguese team almost got all six points, but an own goal from YIOU in the 83rd minute of the first game put 2-2 on the scoreboard, and motivated Bayern for the final 2-3 from JOSE in the 89’. The second game was also a good fight that Boavista ultimately won (3-1), producing one of the most emotional moments of the season so far.
However, the excitement didn’t end there. The last fixture of the day was a tense clash between Celtic FC and current leaders AS Monaco, with both games ending in a draw (2-2 and 1-1). The first game included a goal in the 90+2’, and the second game drew even in the 48th minute but was full of opportunities until the referee’s last whistle.
The MVP of Matchday 3 and the best goal of the 25th January games were awarded at the beginning of the day. Kepa from FC Nantes won the prize for the best goal, and ASM Usmakabyle was the best player. The awards of Matchday 4 will be given on 22nd February. In order to decide the MVP, KONAMI chooses one player out of the five with the most CO-OP points determined by the video game. Both MVP and Best Goal are individual prizes that award 10,000€ each to the winner.
The following fixtures for Matchday 5, to be held on Saturday 22nd February, have been officially announced:
- AS Monaco vs FC Barcelona
- Celtic FC vs Boavista FC
- Juventus vs FC Bayern München
- FC Nantes vs Manchester United FC
- FC Schalke 04 vs Arsenal FC
