ESPL — a new global amateur esports tournament platform set to launch in early 2020 across 16 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas — has selected Axis Esports Sdn Bhd (“Axis”) to be its first franchise partner in Malaysia. Axis brings an extensive track record organizing local esports tournaments and team sponsorship, as owners of APAC Call of Duty team RamPaGe Gaming and Mobile Legends team NvPro.
ESPL is a joint project between former eSports.com CEO Michael Broda, iCandy Interactive Limited, and behavioral data and technology innovation firm Sedania Innovator Berhad. The first ESPL season is planned to run from February to December 2020, with official details about the tournament rules and locations to be announced soon.
