FACEIT has revealed it will host Unified Esports Association (UCEA) leagues on FACEIT for the 2020-2021 school year. The partnership will begin with Rocket League, CS:GO and Overwatch this Fall, with more games planned for Spring. The leagues on FACEIT will be open to all UCEA member institutions, all of whom are verified varsity programs. The partnership will see FACEIT provide the use of their platform, staff, and operational and promotion expertise to support the first UCEA leagues, whilst UCEA will attract North America’s best collegiate players to FACEIT.
The UCEA is a newly formed organisation for high-level esports programs. With no joining fees, UCEA leagues and competitions are designed to create the highest level of collegiate competition whilst championing and promoting student players and broadcast talent. The organisation’s first leagues begin this Fall on the FACEIT platform. Overwatch starts on September 16th; Rocket League begins on September 21st and CS:GO begins on September 22nd. The UCEA Overwatch league will be one of the few licensed varsity Overwatch competitions outside of Blizzard’s own operated league.
Dedicated to driving the esports ecosystem forward by helping to elevate and produce opportunities for grassroots esports, in June FACEIT revealed the expansion of the North American team with the introduction of the collegiate esports division. The new FACEIT department has already revealed it will host Ubisoft Collegiate Esports, its first collegiate esports league, which begins with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege in 2021. The partnership with UCEA represents the further expansion of the new division, spearheaded by Duran Parsi, former Collegiate Starleague (CSL) Founder.
“We’re hugely impressed by UCEA and the systems they’ve put in place for the Fall leagues. Their partner institutions are home to some of the best collegiate esports players in North America, and we’re thrilled to have this influx of new talent on the platform,” said Duran Parsi, Head of Collegiate Esports, FACEIT. “The FACEIT collegiate esports division was founded to support and help develop grassroots esports through collegiate programs around the world, and this partnership is a shining example in North America. ”
“Bringing our collegiate leagues to FACEIT will be highly impactful for our players, giving them access to more prestige, awareness, and a supportive platform” said Ramsey Jamoul, Chief Executive Officer of UEA. “As we host our inaugural season, FACEIT ensures we can offer outstanding value and competitions.
Victoria Horsley, Chief Revenue Officer and President of UCEA agrees “FACEIT perfectly aligns with UCEA’s mission, our values, our collegiate players and the accelerated growth of the collegiate landscape.”
