Today, UK games industry charity GamesAid is pleased to welcome Gina Jackson and Byron Atkinson-Jones as two new trustees to its board.
Gina Jackson is a games industry veteran. Having begun working as a producer in 1992, she worked for companies such as Ocean Software and Nokia before moving into business development for Kuju and Eidos. Now Head of Games at The Imaginarium, Andy Serkis’ production company, she is a passionate advocate for diversity and education within video games, and Visiting Professor for Games Industry and Business at Norwich University of the Arts.
Gina says “It’s fantastic to join such a passionate group of Trustees who work with the UK games industry to raise significant funds for charities. Whether that’s through personal bravery, like Byron doing stand-up at the Comedy Store, making GamesAid DLC, or coming along to the London Games Festival’s fringe ‘Dark Room’, this is a truly special charity and I’m humbled to be part of the team.”
Byron Atkinson-Jones is a game designer and developer with close ties to the South-East’s indie scene. A Unity engine expert, Byron has worked with many of the industry’s best, including EA, Rebellion, Lionshead, Sports Interactive, Mediatonic and others. He’s no stranger to supporting charity either, being one of the amateur acts at this year’s ‘StandUp for GamesAid’ and an organiser for #Include, a yearly game developer conference that donates proceeds to GamesAid.
Byron says “I’ve always been a big fan of GamesAid and the work they do to raise money for Children’s charities, so I always try to raise money for them whenever I can. Who knew that one moment I’d be doing stand-up comedy for GamesAid and the next they would be asking me to become a Trustee! It’s a massive honour and I can’t wait to get started.”
