Cygames, in collaboration with CyDesignation, has officially announced that the long-running online RPG Granblue Fantasy is heading to Steam. The PC release is scheduled for March 10, 2026, lining up perfectly with the game’s twelfth anniversary.
Originally launched as a browser-based RPG, Granblue Fantasy has built a massive global following thanks to its striking art style, deep turn-based combat, and ever-expanding story. The Steam version marks a major milestone for the franchise, making the game more accessible to players outside of Japan.
A New Look Built for PC
One of the biggest changes coming with the Steam release is a redesigned interface tailored specifically for PC displays. Unlike the original vertical layout used on Mobage, GREE, DMM, and Yahoo!, the Steam version features a 16:9 aspect ratio, offering a more traditional PC-friendly presentation.
This redesign should make battles, menus, and story scenes feel more natural on monitors, especially for players jumping into Granblue Fantasy for the first time.
Important Account Restrictions
There are some key limitations players should be aware of before jumping in:
- The Steam version is intended for players outside of Japan. Some regions, including Japan, will not be supported.
- Existing accounts from Mobage, GREE, DMM, or Yahoo! cannot be used on Steam.
- Account linking between Steam and existing versions is not supported.
In short, the Steam version is a completely separate experience, meaning both new and returning players will need to start fresh.
Language Support
At launch, the Steam version of Granblue Fantasy will support Japanese and English. This ensures international players can enjoy the full experience without relying on third-party translations.
A Big Moment for Granblue Fans
While the lack of account transfers may disappoint longtime players, the move to Steam is still a huge step forward for the franchise. A PC-native layout, official English support, and easier access for global players could introduce Granblue Fantasy to an entirely new audience.
With its Steam launch landing on the game’s twelfth anniversary, this release feels like a celebration of how far the series has come — and a clear sign that Cygames still sees a strong future for one of its most iconic RPGs.
