The legendary MMORPG Guild Wars, enjoyed for over 1 billion hours by more than nine million players worldwide, is entering a new era. Developer ArenaNet and co-development partner 2weeks are launching Guild Wars Reforged on December 3, bringing enhanced visual fidelity, controller support, and a fully consolidated package of all expansions for the accessible price of $19.99.
An All-Inclusive Package for New and Returning Players
Guild Wars Reforged unites the complete library of the original campaigns—Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall—and makes the game Steam Deck verified. Existing players will receive the update for free, while newcomers can purchase the game via Steam or directly from guildwars.com. For the first time, XInput controller support is added, allowing players to adventure through Tyria from their PC or couch seamlessly.
Modern Enhancements to the Classic Experience
This update goes far beyond controller support. Players can now enjoy:
- High-DPI display support for modern monitors
- HD skill icons for clearer combat information
- Rendering upgrades, including new antialiasing options, ambient occlusion, and enhanced bloom
- Flexible font size options for improved readability
- Enhanced 3D environmental audio for immersive gameplay
- A new quest-tracker to guide adventures across any display
Co-Development by ArenaNet and 2weeks
The 2-week studio was formed in 2024 by former ArenaNet staff eager to return to Tyria after 15 years. With over 14 years of combined experience working on the original Guild Wars, the team collaborated closely with ArenaNet to modernise the game while preserving its beloved core experience.
