Indie developer CableHook Games has officially launched Here Comes The Swarm into Steam Early Access, giving players their first chance to jump into its brutal survival RTS gameplay.
The new strategy title drops players into a desperate fight for survival against a relentless hive mind that has already consumed much of the planet. With humanity pushed to the brink, players must build, defend, and strategise carefully if they want any chance of reclaiming their world.
Here Comes The Swarm is available now on Steam Early Access for £16.99, with a limited-time 10% launch discount available for early adopters.

Fight, Build, and Survive Against Endless Waves
At its core, Here Comes The Swarm blends real-time strategy with survival mechanics. Players are tasked with defending humanity’s last foothold on the planet Ulora, where an ever-growing alien swarm threatens to wipe out what remains of civilisation.
To survive, players must expand settlements, gather resources, and build up defensive forces capable of holding back increasingly dangerous enemy waves.
Combat is designed to be fast, tactical, and overwhelming. A tactical pause system allows players to freeze the action and carefully plan their next move during intense battles.
This system provides a strategic layer that lets players rethink positioning, abilities, and defensive structures before the next wave crashes into their settlement.
Divine Powers Add a Unique Twist
One of the more unusual mechanics in Here Comes The Swarm is the ability to harness divine power.
Players can choose between powerful deities who grant unique blessings and abilities. These powers allow players to tailor their strategy around different playstyles.
Some gods focus on resilience and defensive bonuses, while others lean into destruction or cunning battlefield control.
The deity system adds a strategic layer that affects not only combat but also the long-term fate of Ulora itself.
Expeditions and Roguelike Elements
The Early Access version already includes a variety of gameplay modes and features designed to keep players experimenting with different strategies.
Players can take on tutorials, skirmish missions, and expeditions that push beyond the safety of their settlements.
During these expeditions, players encounter evolving enemies, powerful blessings, and unpredictable threats that can dramatically change how each run plays out.
Some of the early major enemies players will encounter include powerful foes such as Tiamman and Karkadann, who represent some of the first major challenges within the game’s expanding world.
The developers are also experimenting with roguelike-style progression systems that allow players to adapt builds and strategies as the game evolves during Early Access.
Early Access Roadmap Revealed
Alongside the Early Access launch, CableHook Games has revealed the first details of the game’s development roadmap.
The studio plans to release regular updates while working closely with community feedback to shape the direction of the game ahead of its eventual Version 1.0 launch.
The first three updates are planned as monthly content drops:
- Update 1 (Month 1): Arcanum loadouts, bug fixes, and balance adjustments
- Update 2 (Month 2): A brand new player unit type
- Update 3 (Month 3): The Yangwhu deity, including a new deity tree and arcanum abilities
- Update 4: Additional content (details to be revealed)
According to the developers, Early Access will allow them to refine gameplay systems, expand the world of Ulora, and introduce new mechanics based directly on community feedback.
