Hoplon, the developers of Heavy Metal Machines, the free-to-play car-combat MOBA currently in Open Beta, is delighted to announce its first university tournament to take place in their home city, Florianópolis on 11th November, 2017.
Hoplon is to undertake its first experience in college championships at the Brazilian university, Univali – Universidade do Vale do Itajaí this weekend. With Heavy Metal Machines’ competitive and combative style, Hoplon is investing deeply into the eSports scene and has already held successful European and South American Championships. Partnering with Razer, the world leader in high-performance gaming hardware, software and systems, the tournament prizes include Razer Kraken headphones for each player on the winning team, in-game items, T-shirts, and a unique opportunity to visit the developer’s headquarters on the beautiful island of Florianópolis.
“What a better place to start our first university tournament than in our home city,” said Tatiana Moreira, Head of Marketing and Publishing. “We decided to kick off our first tournament here in order to support local talent and give the people of Florianópolis the opportunity to show that this is a burgeoning area for gaming and esports. This will be the first of many as we make plans to hold further university tournaments around Europe and South America.”
Both students and professors can apply to participate in the college championships by contacting marketing@hoplon.com.
Currently in Open Beta, Heavy Metal Machines is filled with intuitive fast-paced action, team play elements, unique MOBA gameplay and a heavy metal soundtrack, aspiring esports players, or current professionals from around the world can play on the South American server. Over the summer Hoplon released a number of updates that saw the introduction of leaderboards and bomb updates, so that the MOBA was ready for competitive play.
